Farm Operations
Water Supply:

One of the most vital aspects to a successful aquaculture venture is the water supply, both the quality and temperature.

The location developed by SBA provides consistently clean, cool water year-round with only the Lab, Hatchery and Settlement areas requiring filtered water.

The farm has four intake pipes stretching some 240m out to sea, with each line being able to supply in excess of 200ltrs/sec.

Main Pump Bunker:

With pumping large volumes of water throughout the farm, having the pumps plumbed in at the mean low water mark provides less load on the pump impeller, plus avoiding the loss of prime.

Also having virtually flat ground approx 4-5m above the mean high water mark for the whole site, allows for more efficient water supply and drainage.

The farm operates both electric and diesel pumps to guarantee water supply throughout the site.

Power Generation & Maintenance Sheds:

With mains power unavailable for the early development of the Farm, the diesel power generation has proven sufficient and reliable enough to build the farm to its current size.

The mains power will be connected in coming years. The farm employs a fully qualified mechanic to service and maintain all generators, pumps and farm equipment.
