Grow Out:

The abalone are now on average, 40-50mm in shell length and are housed in large concrete slab tanks for the final 12 months of growth.

The grow out method involves keeping the abalone graded into similar sized animals and monitoring stocking density. The abalone are then harvested from these tanks at an average size of 90 mm.
